Tracy Morgan apologizes again for making anti-gay stand-up remarks

UPI News Service, 06/13/2011

Tracy Morgan told Russell Simmons on his news Web site he is "deeply sorry" for making anti-gay remarks during a recent stand-up act.

Morgan made headlines last week after he said during a Nashville show he would act violently toward his son if he told him he was gay. He also said homosexuals should "not be whining about something as insignificant as bullying."

"I am deeply sorry for the comments I made. What I am most sad about is the comments I made about kids and bullying," Morgan told Simmons on GlobalGrind. "I would never want any young person to think that I wasn't on their side and if any young person thinks they can bully a young gay kid, come see me at [my sitcom] '30 Rock.'"

Morgan also told Simmons to count him in at the next gay-marriage rally.

Simmons is credited with helping to discover the comedian when he gave him his first big break on "Russell Simmons Presents Def Comedy Jam," GlobalGrind noted in a news release Monday.
