Tony Bennett and Elton John have teamed up for a duet on one of Bennett's early hits, "Rags to Riches," for an album to celebrate Bennett's 80th birthday.

The two legendary singers recorded the track at Capitol's legendary Studio A in Los Angeles -- at 11 a.m. on the morning after the Grammy Awards, Billboard.com reported. Bennett had won a Grammy the previous night for best traditional pop vocal album.

After four live takes with a quartet of studio musicians, producer Phil Ramone called it a wrap, Billboard said.

The track is scheduled to appear on a Bennett's next duets album, due in stores on Sept. 26. The album will also feature Bennett collaborations with the Dixie Chicks, Bono, Billy Joel, Sting, James Taylor, John Legend, Elvis Costello, Juanes, k.d. lang, Tim McGraw and Barbra Streisand.

"I'm just so thrilled that all these contemporary artists want to sing with me," Bennett told Billboard. "They're all making me feel so good."

John said he couldn't believe he and Bennett have not sung together before.

"I've done a duet with so many people, the world and its mother," he said. "I've done a duet with (cross-dressing celebrity) RuPaul. But everything comes when it's meant to be."
