Tom Cruise feted pregnant fiancee Katie Holmes for her birthday with a private trip to New York's FAO Schwartz and a romantic midnight skate.

First he took Holmes and about a dozen friends to dinner at New York's Post House steakhouse Thursday night in advance of her 27th birthday Sunday, People magazine reported.

Then the party moved over to the closed toy store decorated with balloons tied to small white tiger dolls and 7-foot-tall stuffed giraffes, People said. The partygoers played with the store's giant keyboard and videogames.

The party climbed into a caravan of sport utility vehicles around 11:30 p.m. and skated for about a half-hour in the sleet and rain at Central Park's Wollman Rink before returning to their hotel.
