Hundreds of fans turned out as Tom Cruise jetted in and out of Rome Monday for the afternoon premiere of "Mission: Impossible III."

The new father told reporters he would spend no more than 8 hours in Italy because "I didn't want to leave my daughter," ANSA reported.

Cruise said he would like to propose to his baby's mother, Katie Holmes, in Paris even though they announced their engagement 10 months ago.

Holmes gave birth to the couple's daughter, Suri, last week and Cruise said they have already gotten a routine down pat.

"Katie does the breast feeding and I do the burping and changing the diapers. It's teamwork," he said, adding he changed his daughter's very first diaper.

Cruise also said it was hard leaving his family, even if only for a few hours.

"I didn't want to leave my daughter, but in the end Katie told me to come and enjoy myself," he told reporters.
