Tom Cruise's representative has confirmed that the U.S. actor and Katie Holmes have set their wedding date for Nov. 18 in Italy.

The couple said that the only reason they waited this long to marry was so that their daughter, Suri, could attend the wedding, People magazine reported Tuesday.

"In many ways," said Cruise, "we feel like we already are married. I know I'm with the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. So the wedding -- that's just the party."

People reported last week that the couple had asked Giorgio Armani to design Holmes's wedding dress.
