Palm Springs police found $2,600 in cash, jewelry worth $30,860, a handgun and ski mask in a parking lot, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.
A Cash America store in Palm Springs was held up Friday by a man who entered the store wearing a ski mask and armed with a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun, police said. At his orders, store employees filled two bags with money and jewelry hand handed them over.
A driver was waiting for the robber outside and the pair took off.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office joined the search after receiving a report of the getaway vehicle, a light blue Chevrolet Caprice, being spotted.
The thieves jettisoned their ill-gotten gains and gun, and got away.
