NeNe Leakes' son is apparently having a hard time staying out of trouble.

Bryson Bryant -- who has appeared in The Real Housewives of Atlanta episodes with his mother -- was arrested on Tuesday for possession of a controlled substance and carrying a weapon, a Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department official told People.

"The charges say he was in possession of a controlled substance and weapon by jail inmates," the law enforcement official told People.

"That means he had a weapon with him when he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance."

Bryant was subsequently released from a Gwinnett County Detention Center early Wednesday morning.

The arrest marks the second time in less than a month that Bryant has found himself behind bars, as he was also arrested on March 7 on a minor marijuana possession charge.

Leakes issued a statement at the time claiming it was a "family issue" and adding it would be handled "in a private manner."

"My son is not the first young adult to experiment with marijuana, and he certainly won't be the last," read Leakes' statement at the time, People reported.

"Still, as parents, this is a chance for us to have an open dialogue with him about the dangers of any substance abuse. I realize as a parent that my job is never done. And as I've tweeted, tough love was in order."

A Leakes representative told People on Wednesday that The Real Housewives of Atlanta star was standing by her earlier statement.

Bravo renewed The Real Housewives of Atlanta in January and subsequently confirmed that Leakes, Kim Zolciak, Kandi Burruss, Lisa Wu Hartwell, and Sheree Whitfield will all be returning for the third season.
