The Police confirm plans to reunite for Grammy Awards performance

The Police confirmed Tuesday it will reunite to open the 49th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, ending weeks of speculation about a reunion performance.

The group has not performed live since its 2003 induction into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, Billboard said.

Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland last week were reported to have begun rehearsing for the Grammy Awards show, which air Feb. 11.

Mary J. Blige leads the field of Grammy nominees with eight, followed by the Red Hot Chili Peppers with six. James Blunt, Dixie Chicks, Danger Mouse and Prince are among eight artists with five nominations each.
