Hollywood actor Rainn Wilson, best-known for playing Dwight on TV's "The Office," is set to preside over Film Independent's 2008 Spirit Awards.
Wilson, who is a Writers Guild of America member, has also agreed to help pen the show, which honors the year's best independent films, Variety.com said.
The Writers Guild of America West announced Thursday it had granted permission for striking scribes to write for the Spirit Awards show.
The ceremony is slated to take place in Santa Monica Feb. 23, on the eve of the Oscars presentation.
An uncensored live telecast is scheduled to air on the Independent Film Channel, the trade paper said.
