Directed by Brazilian Walter Salles, "Diaries" was nominated in the categories of best music written for motion pictures and best adapted screenplay.
The story adapts Guevara's book by the same title about his overland journey through South America by motorbike with friend Alberto Granado from 1951-1952.
During their days on the road, the two friends share a series of mishaps, wild adventures and revelations that later shaped Guevara's political ideals.
Salles is also known for his 1995 Oscar-nominated film "Central Station."
