The new Broadway musical "The Color Purple" hasn't opened yet, but it's already poised to lose its star, Playbill reported Wednesday.

Renee Elise Goldsberry is pregnant and will leave the show shortly after it opens Dec. 1, production officials said. Her replacement has not yet been announced.
Based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and the Steven Spielberg film of the same name, the Oprah Winfrey-produced musical begins previews at the Broadway Theatre Nov. 1.
Goldsberry made her Broadway debut in "The Lion King" as Nala and plays Evangeline Williamson on the ABC soap, "One Life to Live."
