The Bachelorette couple Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth's breakup reportedly wasn't a sudden decision and there was no blowout fight that ended it all.

Kaitlyn and Shawn announced late last week they had broken up after nearly three years together. While there were a few signs of trouble in paradise, the couple's split came as a surprise to many fans.

"She wants this to blow over. Her and Shawn are not on bad terms and it was not a messy breakup," a source told E! News. "This has been a long time coming and Kaitlyn has already felt single for months."

An insider added of the former couple, "Everyone around them is happy they can finally move on with their lives and stop avoiding their issues."

So what are the "issues" that drove this couple apart after getting engaged on The Bachelorette's eleventh season back in 2015?

"Kaitlyn has been out, being social and having a great time on her own. She's truly happier doing her own thing. Shawn's been so busy in his business. It has been heading in the wrong direction for months now."

A third source told the website, "Everyone was rooting for them but they truly grew apart when their lives got busy and couldn't get back to where they were."

Rumors sparked The Bachelorette couple had called it quits on their engagement this past summer after fans noticed Kaitlyn wasn't wearing her engagement ring and had been staying with her family in Canada for several weeks.

However, Kaitlyn subsequently denied the rumors on her Off the Vine podcast by insisting the pair, who had been in Nashville together, were still an item and doing just fine.

Now that Kaitlyn is single, she's reportedly going to spend some time in Canada with her family; however, she will ultimately return to Nashville because "she loves it there."

And Shawn will move out of his place with Kaitlyn but also remain in Nashville in order to run his Boothcamp gym and fitness app.

Kaitlyn is also reportedly keeping her Neil Lane diamond engagement ring because a Bachelor couple typically must return the ring if an engagement ends within two years after the marriage proposal.

When Kaitlyn and Shawn announced their split last week, they said in a media statement they had arrived at the "difficult decision" following "thoughtful, respectful consideration."

"Even though we are parting as a couple, we're very much committed to remaining friends. We have both evolved as people, which is taking us in different directions, but with the hope that we will continue to support each other in new ways," the pair said in a statement to People.
