The Bachelorette alum Tyler Cameron has shed new details on why he clashes with his best friend Matt James' girlfriend Rachael Kirkconnell.

Matt said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen back in May that Rachel, 25, and Tyler, 29, have a "love-hate relationship." The trio used to hang out frequently when Tyler and Matt lived together in New York City.

But Tyler told E! News last week that he and Rachael "sometimes clash" because they both have "strong opinions" and see things differently, and he elaborated on the tension between them in an interview with Us Weekly.

"I was definitely going through my own sh-t... We just have our own ways of clashing," Tyler explained of his dynamic with Rachael.

"I don't like listening to people sometimes, and she's strong and she has a really good opinion on a lot of things. And sometimes I don't want to hear it."

Tyler, however, insisted Rachael "always means well" and is a "really good person" as well as a great partner for Matt, 30.

"They're very happy and I think we clash just because we're both passionate people in what we believe in," The Real Dirty Dancing alum noted.

"But we've also learned from each other, so that's good. I think they're good for each other. They keep each other happy and keep each other going and that's what's important."

Tyler hasn't been spending much time with Matt in recent months, but he's asking fans not to read too much into it.

"I think people think [Matt and I aren't friends] because we're just not in each other's everyday lives like we used to be," Tyler said. "I think it's part of growing up. It's part of entering a relationship."

Tyler said he and the Season 25 The Bachelor star have been close friends since 2012 when they both attended Wake Forest University in North Carolina.

"We all have those friends that they grow up, they start dating their person, they get married, they do their thing and you see him when you see him," said the model and former general contractor from Florida.

Tyler is now back in his hometown of Jupiter, FL, and dating model Paige Lorenze while Matt and Rachael are spending a lot of time in Miami.

Tyler and Paige were photographed kissing while strolling through the streets of New York City on July 17.

A source told Us earlier this month that Tyler and Paige had begun dating and it was "still new."

"They are keeping it on the down-low," the source claimed.

And an insider told The New York Post's Page Six, "They're spending time together whenever they can. It's not a full-blown, serious relationship because they're often in different cities, but they're having fun with it."

A second insider also insisted that Tyler and Paige are "seeing each other and not just hooking up."

Tyler's new romance comes about one year after his split from model Camila Kendra, who reportedly dumped him in August 2021 after eight months of dating.

Camila appeared to break up with Tyler shortly after he publicly announced that he was "very in love" with her.

"Things were going well until they weren't," a source told the magazine last summer. "Friends were surprised things ended so quickly."

Prior to Camila, Tyler dated supermodel Gigi Hadid and finished Hannah Brown's The Bachelorette season in second place in 2019.

For Matt's part, he selected Rachael, a model from Cumming, GA, as his winner on The Bachelor last year.

Matt and Rachael briefly split in February 2021 during Rachael's memorable racism controversy -- which included former The Bachelor host Chris Harrison and ABC agreeing to part ways -- but the couple reconciled in April 2021 and have been inseparable ever since.

Matt and Rachael recently traveled to Greece and Italy together, and they've made stops all across the United States -- including Louisiana, California and Pennsylvania.

Fans have been wondering when Rachael and Matt will get engaged, and Rachael told Us earlier this month, "The only timeline I give him is I was like, 'I gotta have kids before, you know, I can't have kids.' So keep that in mind."

Matt told the Los Angeles Times in June, "We're one of the only couples from that franchise still going strong. The reason is we're going at things at our own pace. We're not playing games that a lot of people play just to stay in that circle."

Matt said on the May episode of Watch What Happens Live that he had a feeling Rachael was The One when they met on the very first night of filming The Bachelor in late 2020.

"When I met everybody that first night, [our] interaction was the most genuine," Matt said, according to People. "I was looking for that genuine connection and just realness and she exuded it. And there it is."

Matt also reportedly wrote in his book, First Impressions: Off Screen Conversations with a Bachelor on Race, Family, and Forgiveness, that he wanted to spend all of his time with Rachael while taping the show.

"In the beginning, she cut through the polished front I'd honed and into my nerdy side," Matt wrote of Rachael.

"We debated who was the bigger fan of How to Train Your Dragon and Marvel movies. I observed her empathy from afar, noticed how her kindness extended beyond our time alone and to everyone else she encountered."
