Tayshia and Zac got engaged during the Season 16 finale of The Bachelorette last year, and they've been splitting their time between New York City and Tayshia's native California ever since.

While Tayshia and Zac have mainly settled down in New York, according to People, Tayshia had to spend many weeks away from her fiancee when she was filming Katie Thurston's season of The Bachelorette in New Mexico earlier this year.

Tayshia and her The Bachelorette co-host Kaitlyn Bristowe were also re-hired by ABC to co-host The Bachelorette's upcoming eighteenth season starring Michelle Young, which is currently filming.

Season 18 of The Bachelorette is expected to feature more traveling than the past few seasons, which taped amid the worst of the coronavirus pandemic.

"We need to remember why we were with each other," Tayshia admitted on "The Ben and Ashley I. Almost Famous Podcast" when asked about maintaining a long-distance relationship with Zac, according to People.

"And I think that that's absolutely normal... It's hard to be in a new relationship and then kind of go away for a couple of weeks, you know what I mean? And this is me being real and honest."

Tayshia added, "People don't need to know our story, but like, I think people need to know that even when two people are heavily in love, you still go through things. Like, okay, we need to remember where we came from."

Tayshia reportedly said she and Zac were able to get past the struggle of being apart once they "reminisced" and "figured out why we got in this in the first place."

And the couple just celebrated the one-year anniversary of when Zac began his journey to find love on The Bachelorette's sixteenth season last month.

"Total insanity," Zac tweeted in July. "One year ago today I was ripping out to Palm Springs to go on @BacheloretteABC. Shooters shoot, glad I shot. Met some incredible humans and learned a lot about life/myself. Grateful."

This isn't the first time Tayshia has put breakup rumors to rest. She denied a split from Zac in March after she was spotted without her engagement ring on.

"There's all these weird rumors circulating around that I'm not wearing my ring and that Zac and I are broken up. I don't know what is happening," Tayshia said on Instagram Stories.

She added, "I was in [Los Angeles] for a hot minute and was able to finally drop off my ring and get it sized."

Tayshia reportedly followed up her video with a post on her Instagram Story that read, "Not gonna lie, I don't like getting DMs putting this weird energy into the universe lol. I love that there's so much love & support around our relationship but please don't put unnecessary rumors/pressure on us."

Around that same time, Zac had to reassure fans that his mother accidentally stopped following Tayshia on Instagram and there wasn't a falling out or intentional slight on his mom's part.

Zac also confirmed in April that he and Tayshia have "wedding plans" although it's been a wild year and they're just taking their time in setting a date and choosing a venue.

Tayshia selected Zac over her runner-up Ben Smith in her final days of filming The Bachelorette, and the couple got engaged at the Final Rose Ceremony that aired on December 22, 2020.

Following their engagement, Tayshia and Zac enjoyed the holidays together and then Tayshia decided to move to New York City to be with her man.

In a February 2021 interview with Marie Claire, the once-divorced The Bachelorette star revealed she had decided to keep her own place in California "for peace of mind" since this is "not [her] first rodeo."

"Coming out of that [TV environment], I think we had a strong foundation, and then it's about, like, digging in together and getting to know each other and understanding each other's lives," Zac told Us of his post-show journey with Tayshia.

"We're both passionate, driven, busy human beings. And with that, we need to remind ourselves to work each other into it and we've done [that]."

Zac continued, "So yeah, a couple months after, there were some ups and downs, of course, and, like, well-documented, but at the end of the day, it's all good right now."

Zac added that he and Tayshia have a "solid" relationship and they support each other "through difficult times."

The social-media influencer and former phlebotomist even confessed she is "obsessed" with Zac, who reportedly separated from his wife Jennifer Stanley-George in January 2011 less than two years after they got married in June 2009.

"[It] is weird to say because I don't like to sound so cliche, but he's very much everything I need," gushed Tayshia last year.

Tayshia split from her former husband Josh Bourelle in August 2017 and then got divorced in April 2018 before she began filming Colton Underwood's season of The Bachelor in September of that year.

"I have an issue with trust," added Tayshia, who also had a failed relationship with her Bachelor in Paradise co-star John Paul Jones before her The Bachelorette stint. "[Zac] is teaching me to get that back."
