The Bachelor host Chris Harrison has revealed whether he knew anything about Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray's sudden decision to part ways when he interviewed them last week.

Just three days before announcing on January 8 they called off their engagement, Harrison interviewed Dorfman and Murray at the live red-carpet event preceding The Bachelor's nineteenth-season premiere -- prompting viewers to speculate whether the pair had faked their happiness or had some type of major blowout shortly after that night.

Harrison had asked The Bachelorette's tenth-season couple many personal questions about their romance, upcoming wedding and life together in Atlanta. So was he aware of Dorfman and Murray's split but pretended he was out of the loop?

"I had no clue," Harrison told TV Guide.

"The only thing was that I felt [they] were a little off, but... they seemed happy and played the part. By no means did I know they were broken up and did that interview because honestly, having been through a crappy breakup, I would've protected it more and stayed away from wedding talk and I wouldn't have put them on the spot."

Looking back on that exchange, Harrison admits it must've been pretty painful for the couple since they had -- at the very least -- been on the rocks.

"That had to be horribly uncomfortable and awkward knowing they were probably going to break up," the host said. "I was surprised, considering everyone seemed good on Monday. I hope Andi will sit down with me whenever the time is right for her because I'm interested [to know what happened]; it felt sudden to call it quits. But I hope people give them a break."

Dorfman, 27, and Murray, 30, got engaged on May 9 although their proposal didn't air on television until late July.
