'The Amazing Race's Louis Stravato put on desk duty for drug probe

By Christopher Rocchio, 03/09/2010

The Amazing Race participant Louis Stravato has been put on desk duty as part of a still-ongoing investigation in which three of his department's police officers have already been arrested for allegedly participating in a cocaine drug ring.

The 47-year-old undercover detective from Providence, RI was one of four additional Providence Police officers who were placed on administrative duty on Friday afternoon as part of the Rhode Island State Police and FBI's investigation into a "large-scale" cocaine distribution operation that allegedly included Providence police officers, TMZ reported Tuesday.

While Rhode Island State Police Captain David S. Neill confirmed Stravato as one of the four assigned "desk duty," he would not provide comment on his possible involvement in the investigation, according to TMZ.

Narcotics detective Joseph Colanduono, patrolman Robert J. Hamlin, and Sgt. Stephen Gonsalves were all arrested on Friday on various drug-related charges in connection to the four-month investigation.

Stravato -- who has not been charged -- is participating in The Amazing Race's currently-airing sixteenth season with fellow Providence Police Department undercover detective Michael Naylor.

CBS did not return TMZ's call for comment.
