Similar to the show's original seasons that aired on Fox between 2001 and 2003, USA Network's Temptation Island reboot follows four dating couples at a pivotal time in their relationships in which they must decide whether to stay committed to each other for the rest of their lives or go their separate ways.

The established couples are Karl, 31, and Nicole Tutewohl, 25, who currently reside in Chicago, IL; John, 35, and Kady Cannon Krambeer, 30, who currently reside in Fort Worth, TX; Evan Smith, 28, and Kaci Campbell, 29, who currently reside in Los Angeles, CA; and Javen Butler, 25, and Shari Ligons, 25, who currently reside in San Francisco, CA.

The significant others -- who were at a crossroads in their relationships -- traveled together to the tropical paradise of Maui, Hawaii, to live the "single life," and each of them would have an opportunity to date up to 12 singles awaiting them.

The stakes were high and hearts were on the line, but each exclusive couple seemed pretty confident at first their bonds would outlast and conquer any temptation. However, everyone was taking a great risk.

The Temptation Island broadcast began with Kaci saying she couldn't wrap her head around the fact Evan had asked Morgan to be his girlfriend.

Kaci cried about how she was embarrassed and Evan had forgotten about everything they had gone through together, but the girls assured Kaci this was a reflection of Evan's character and not her own.

Kaci said she and Evan had plans to travel together after Temptation Island and her birthday was coming up, so she couldn't believe things had changed so drastically in such a short period of time.

Meanwhile, John told Javen that he was shocked Javen and Shari were the couple surviving temptation because they seemed to have the biggest problems going into the show, as they openly bickered and argued in front of people.

Temptation Island host Mark L. Walberg then asked each person in a committed relationship to choose one person to join him or her for an overnight date. This was a serious decision to make, as the rest of the singles would be sent home that very day.

Evan obviously selected Morgan, John picked Katheryn Golden -- who was no longer "blocked" from dating John on the island -- Javen chose to go on a date with Kayla Essex, and Karl decided on Brittney Rose.

Brittney was hoping to advance her physical connection with Karl, while Katheryn was looking forward to finally enjoying a date with John.

The four ladies in committed relationships then picked their dates. Kaci chose Valentin Osipov, Shari picked Justin Sturm, Nicole selected Tyler Sabino, and then Kady decided to go on a date with Johnny Alexander.

Kady had really bonded with Johnny, so she was looking forward to spending a night alone with him, and Shari planned to take her connection with Justin "to the next level." Shari acknowledged, "This should be interesting."

Kaci and Val went sailing together, and Kaci said she picked Val because he made her laugh and was able to keep her mind off Evan. Kaci said she felt bad for Evan's girl because he was going to break her heart.

Val noticed Kaci was "still strung up on her man" and needed to move on, so he was prepared to help her do just that.

Evan and Morgan also went sailing, and Evan told Morgan that he belonged to her and they had "some real things to talk about."

Evan said he wanted to meet Morgan's family and they had to figure out how to deal with the distance between them.

"Girl, you're 'it,' and I can't let you go," Evan told her.

Morgan felt safe and secure with Evan, but every time she was alone, she thought about him potentially leaving her and it made her nervous and anxious.

Evan said his feelings for Kaci and Morgan were very different, as Morgan played things by ear but Kaci has a timeline for her life in terms of when she wants to get married and settle down and have kids.

Meanwhile, Katheryn and John were building on their "genuine connection" and John couldn't believe how close he felt to Katheryn so quickly.

For their date, the couple swam with dolphins and Katheryn was absolutely thrilled to share the experience with John.

As for Kady and Johnny, Kady feared having a tough conversation with John but she attempted to focus on her emotional connection with Johnny.

Johnny was afraid to "lose everything," and the pair agreed this experience was "bittersweet" due to all the emotions.

"John is someone I love and we have a life together for the last three years, but at the same time, I've never had fireworks with John. I feel like with Johnny, I have a sparkler that could possibly turn into fireworks," Kady said in a confessional.

Kayla and Javen were then shown bonding over a romantic and exciting helicopter ride, although Kayla figured she was going to leave the show as just friends with him.

And Shari and Justin enjoyed a yoga session with an incredible view of the ocean. Shari and Justin said they had great conversation and that's what was a bit tempting for her.

Justin thought their connection was "playful" and there could be a romantic twist if she opted to open up a little more and be vulnerable.

As for Karl and Brittney, they received massages. Karl acknowledged Brittney was sensual and intellectual, which comes with experience, while Nicole had "a lot of life to figure out." Karl also admitted Nicole was "all bottled up."

Brittney told the cameras her chemistry with Karl was "insane" and she felt blessed to experience the massage with someone she was "growing to adore."

Finally, Nicole and Tyler built an emotional connection although he's usually not her type physically.

The pair were shown enjoying a romantic dinner in the early evening and Nicole felt she could always put her "raw feelings out on the table" with him.

That night, Javen revealed to Kayla he was ready to give Shari all of him and he realized his girlfriend is the only woman for him.

"I love her to the moon and back," Javen admitted to Kayla, who claimed to be very happy for him.

Meanwhile, Shari and Justin hopped in a hot tub together and Shari loved how he challenged her.

While Shari said she loved Javen, she wasn't sure if she was ready to settle down right away with him and she never expected Temptation Island to be such "an emotional roller coaster."

Morgan was then shown admitting to Evan that his breakup with Kaci was going to be extremely difficult because they had been together for nine years. While he was a "sweet talker" and made her feel great, she worried Evan would end up making the wrong decision.

Over dinner that night, Kaci confessed to Val that she wasn't sure whether Evan ever loved her.

"I don't want to cry, but I wanted to make him proud," Kaci vented to Val in tears.

As for Tyler and Nicole, he was "100 percent intrigued by her" and hoped to continue dating her after the show. Nicole had learned so much about herself on the island and wondered if she and Karl simply wanted different things in life.

"I can feel the love. I can feel the passion," Nicole said of Tyler. "I think it's important to experience both an emotional and physical connection with the person you are dating."

Nicole and Tyler then went in for a steamy kiss.

Karl was then shown admitting he couldn't slow down with Brittney and planned to just live in the moment. Brittney continued to seduce Karl because she was crazy about him and hoped he'd let his guard down.

Katheryn also felt like John was "the real deal." She was afraid to put her heart out there, but Katheryn said she had an absolutely amazing day with John.

"I just really don't want to feel as though you are here with me just because of what [Kady] did. I don't want to feel like the other woman you are using to get over her," Katheryn told John.

But John assured Katheryn that wasn't the case and he wouldn't want her to think she's a rebound.

"I've decided I deserve more than Kady, somebody like you," John noted, adding that he'd like to fly to see Katheryn once the show is over.

John loved Katheryn's sense of humor and the fact she wasn't judgmental. At this point, John couldn't wait to call Kady out "on her bullsh-t" and said he was tired of his girlfriend belittling and manipulating him.

Just when Katheryn thought things couldn't get any better, she and John walked into a beautiful hotel room that was decorated with rose petals. He was excited for intimacy with Katheryn that night.

Before bed, Kady and Johnny ate smores by a fire. While Johnny gave her butterflies in her stomach, she acknowledged John had made her feel the same way in the beginning.

Kady admitted she was "missing that deep, in-love feeling" with John, but breaking up with him would be very hard if he ends up fighting for their relationship.

The next day, Kady confessed to cameras she still loved and respected John and was thinking about him a little bit during her date with Johnny.

Meanwhile, Katheryn and John woke up next together and John said his night with her felt like their five-year anniversary. Katheryn said she'd be "devastated" if John ultimately decided to make things work with Kady.

Katheryn was concerned but vented to the cameras, "He can't leave here with her! He deserves a beautiful, mutual relationship. It kills me she talks down to him and says he's not a man. That breaks my heart for him... and I would never say that to him."

As for Kaci, she hated that she was still in love with Evan, but she noted she felt "strong and confident and was ready to handle this sh-t."

Kaci wanted to leave the relationship "on top," with Evan regretting his decisions and running back to her crying.

"He made the biggest mistake of his life and I want it to haunt him forever. I am a badass woman and I'm going to kill this and be a beast -- and everything is going to be fine," Kaci told the cameras.

Karl didn't expect to be tempted this much on the island, but he admitted he "gave in" and "slept with Brittney" during their overnight date together.

Karl apparently wasn't proud of himself and never stopped thinking about Nicole, whom he loved.

Brittney said the night felt amazing and best-case scenario, he would end his relationship. Brittney wanted Karl to remain in her life after the show, but Karl was praying he could still work things out with Nicole.

Mark then showed up at the men's villa and announced the single women must say goodbye and leave the island.

The women started to freak out they may potentially never see or hear from the guys they had fallen for again.
