Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer is dealing with the fact her first ex-husband Corey Simms has been awarded primary custody of their twin girls.

Messer, mom to five-year-old twins Aleeah and Aliannah with Simms, 25, as well as a two-year-old girl Adalynn with her second ex-husband Jeremy Calvert, experienced the "worst outcome" of her custody battle with Simms, Us Weekly reported in its November 9 issue.

Messer received the bad news on October 7, and now, she only gets to spend weekends with her eldest girls compared to the four days a week she had with them before.

"I have done so much to become a better person, it was like a slap in the face at first," said Messer, who completed a 30-day stay at a treatment facility for anxiety and depression this past June. "It hurt me. It made me angry."

"I think child support has a lot to do with it," Messer told Us, revealing that Simms was paying her $800 a month before the new ruling.

Simms, who is currently expecting a daughter Remi with his wife of two years Miranda in January of next year, reportedly accused Messer of missing Ali's physical-therapy appointments to help her muscular dystrophy, abusing prescription pills and constantly failing to get their young girls to school on time.

A judge ruled in Simms' favor to ensure the kids' "timely attendance at school," according to Messer's lawyer Lyne Ranson.

"I filed the motion to reconsider because of a lot of the mistakes that the court had made," Messer argued.

Though Messer owned up to punctuality issues last year in light of a sleep disorder, the reality TV star insists the girls were not tardy for school in August of this year -- a statement Simms whole-heartedly disagrees with.

And despite neighborhood rumors heard by Simms, Messer also denies having any type of drug problem.

Messer confessed to Us she had only taken anti-anxiety medication two years ago and also prescription painkillers for a botched epidural during Addie's 2013 birth. But as of recently, Messer insists she has passed numerous drug tests, including those using hair follicles, which tends to deliver more accurate results.

"You would think that a father would want the best for his children, not to continue to attack their mother for no reason..." Messer explained. "Corey and I did hook up two months after [he and Miranda] got married... Miranda doesn't want me in the picture. She wants to hurt me because she thinks that Corey and I still have something for each other."

While Messer blames this "nonstop fight" on Simms inability to get along, the Simms insider claims it's "not about money or attacking Leah," rather, "they're just concerned about the safety and well-being of the children."

However, Messer is standing by the fact her twin girls are "miserable" in Simms' custody because she's "so close" with them.

"Aleeah's talked about running away," Messer told Us.

Messer's ideal scenario would be to split custody with Simms 50-50.

"I feel like they should have both of us in their lives," the Teen Mom 2 star explained. "[Corey] is a really good father -- about as solid as you can get. I really and truly feel I'm the best mom that I can possibly be."
