TBS cancels Louis C.K.'s 'The Cops' animated series

UPI News Service, 01/09/2018

TBS has officially canceled "The Cops," an animated series from Louis C.K. that was set to premier later this year.

C.K. was to serve as executive producer, voice actor and writer on the series.

The expected move comes after C.K. came under fire for sexual misconduct allegations revealed in a New York Times story in November and the comedian admitted to the allegations the next day.

Soon after C.K. released his statement regarding the sexual misconduct allegations, TBS suspended production of "The Cops" and staff members were laid off just before Thanksgiving, Deadline reported.

At the time of the show's suspension, several scripts were already written and animation was being created.

TBS executives described the show as two Los Angeles police officers voiced by C.K. and Albert Brooks who are "trying their best to protect and serve, sometimes failing at both. Ride with them as they patrol one of the biggest cities in the world, then go home with them and be glad you're not married to either."

Brett Weitz, executive vice president of original programming for TBS, said early last year that "The Cops" was going to be part of a "serious push into animated comedy" for the network in 2018.
