"Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" roared its way to No. 1 at the box office over the weekend with $47 million in gross U.S. box office receipts.

"Barnyard," also in its first weekend of release, scratched its way to No. 2 with a little more than $16 million, and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" kept up its money-making ways at third with $11 million in its fifth weekend.

"Miami Vice" fell hard from its No. 1 spot last week, dropping more than 60 percent in revenues to take fourth place with nearly $9.7 million.
"The Descent" was fifth with $8.8 million; "John Tucker Must Die" sixth with a little more than $6 million; "Monster House" seventh with $6 million; "The Ant Bully" eighth with $3.9 million, and "You, Me and Dupree" ninth with a little more than $3.6 million.
"The Night Listener," on a more limited number of screens, brought up the rear of the top 10 with $3.6 million.
