Survivor: Ghost Island is currently several weeks into its broadcast season, as the castaways have yet to reach the merge.

The season premiered on February 28, with 20 new castaways -- divided into two tribes, Naviti vs. Malolo -- competing for the $1 million grand prize and the title of "Sole Survivor.

Showcasing the series' extensive history, a new twist has sent players to a separate Ghost Island filled with Survivor relics, including hidden Immunity Idols and advantages, that were misplayed from the previous 35 seasons of Survivor.

The goal this season is to "reverse the curse" of former players who have been haunted by their mistakes in the game.

"This is one of the biggest groups of Super Fans we've ever had," Survivor host Jeff Probst said of the cast. "And that was by design, because we're doing a theme that requires you to really understand Survivor. All it takes is one bad decision, and your game is gone."

Survivor: Ghost Island has also forced the castaways to rough it more in Fiji. Not only did producers drastically cut the tribes' portions of rice, but they are also stuck playing the game in their underwear instead of bathing suits.

Viewers will also see a repeat of the fire-starting challenge when only four castaways remain that was featured in the Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers finale in Fall 2017.

Last season, Ben Driebergen won the game, defeating Ryan Ulrich and Chrissy Hofbeck at the final Tribal Council.
