Survivor: David vs. Goliath eliminated two castaways, Alec Merlino and Carl Boudreaux, from the Kalokalo tribe in back-to-back Season 37 episodes Wednesday night on CBS.

Alec, a 24-year-old bartender from San Clemente, CA, became the eleventh castaway to leave the game and the fourth jury member on Night 28 through a unanimous vote of 9-1 at Tribal Council.

Alec, however, voted for Carl, a 41-year-old truck driver from Beaumont, TX, who currently resides in Houston, TX, because Carl appeared to be in charge of the Davids and had previously made his big "idol nullifier" play.

Alec also accused Carl, whom his tribemates called "the godfather," of becoming a bit cocky in the game.

The numbers came down to five original Goliaths against five original Davids, but Angelina Keeley flipped and joined forces with the Davids after her allies shocked and blindsided her with Dan Rengering's vote off.

The Davids decided to target Alec because they dubbed him the biggest physical threat left in the game, and then the Goliaths just chose to go along with the vote since they knew they were outnumbered.

In fact, Angelina, Carl and Nick Wilson felt so safe that they decided to sit out of the Reward Challenge to feast on chili cheese covered nachos.

Although Christian Hubicki wavered with the decision because he liked the idea of keeping big threats in the game to serve as his shield, he determined he may not be able to beat Alec in future Individual Immunity Challenges.

Alec was minutes away from winning Individual Immunity before his vote-off; however, Christian won the competition after a five-and-a-half hour showdown in which the castaways were required to hold a bar behind their head for as long as possible while balancing on a narrow perch.

Also during the first episode of the two-episode event, Nick found an idol clue and was instructed to leave camp in the middle of Night 26 to retrieve the idol at the farthest point on the island. Nick successfully found the idol that was near a lit torch, and Davie Rickenbacker knew all about it.

During the second episode on Wednesday night, Carl's torch was snuffed on Night 30 of the game at Tribal Council through a split 5-4 vote in which Alison Raybould, a 28-year-old physician from Leawood, KS, who currently resides in Chapel Hill, NC, received four votes.

Carl therefore became the twelfth person to leave the game and the fifth jury member.

"I'm confused. I never saw that one coming. We had a plan in place but I put my guard down and they switched the plan and I'm the one that's going home," Carl said in his final words, referencing how his plan had been to vote out Alison.

"It's no different than when I'm driving my truck. I was kind of on cruise control and moving a little fast, but in this game, you just can't do that. So it was a great move on their part, and they got the better of me."

Although there were five original Davids and four original Goliaths -- with Angelina having joined forces with the Davids -- left in the game following Alec's ouster, two of the Davids, Christian and Gabby Pascuzzi, decided to flip and vote out Carl.

Not only did Christian and Gabby want credit for moves they were making with or under Carl, but Carl had also left Gabby in the dark about his goal to vote Alison out since the two girls were very close. (Carl told Gabby that Angelina was the target).

Given Gabby was Christian's closest ally, however, he spilled the beans and decided to work with her and a few Goliaths to get rid of their alleged leader, Carl, based on appearances.

A mistake Carl seemed to make was revealing his plot to vote out Alison to Kara Kay during the previous Reward Challenge. Kara was therefore able to rally troops against Carl.

Kara, Gabby, Christian, Alison and Mike therefore voted for Carl at Tribal Council, while Davie, Carl, Nick and Angelina voted for Alison.

Mike served as the swing vote between the two sides, but had he voted out Alison -- whom he admitted was "the most competitive player" left in the game -- he would have given his loyalty to Angelina and three original David members, which wouldn't really make sense for his game.

Before Tribal Council, Davie won the Individual Immunity Challenge, which was an obstacle course that ended with a word puzzle. Davie managed to spell "Perspective" only moments before Alison could finish.

Angelina opted to sit out of the Immunity Challenge in exchange for more rations of rice for her Kalokalo tribe, a selfless gesture that did not go unappreciated.

Survivor host Jeff Probst noted at the end of the two-episode event, "The lines have definitely been blurred."
