Suit: Snakes and beans don't mix

UPI News Service, 09/22/2007

An Iowa family is suing over a snake head they claim they found in a can of green beans.

Members of the Schneider family of Riverside contend they suffered mental anguish when Amy Schneider opened a can of beans in 2004 and discovered the severed serpent head inside.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages from Lakeside Foods, Iowa City Cub Foods and Supervalu, Inc., the Cedar Rapids Gazette said.

Amy told the newspaper that Lakeside, which canned the beans, offered her coupons when she complained.

"Of course it was for their brand, and I thought, `I'm never going to buy that product again,''' she said. "I probably won't ever eat a green bean again."
