UPI News Service, 01/05/2005

Most parents monitor what their children view online, a New York-based research group reported Wednesday.

Conference Board Director Lynn Franco said more than 95 percent of parents worry their children are being "exposed to inappropriate content and child predators while online."

The study, which monitored more than 10,000 U.S. households, found about 40 percent of households with Internet access have children under the age of 18, and even preschoolers use it as a source of entertainment.

But as with television, the Conference Board found most parents impose a time restriction on Internet access.
