UPI News Service, 10/28/2008

A Britain-based global research firm said its poll indicates married couples begin to take their marriages for granted after two years, six months and 25 days.

Research company onepoll.com said its survey of 5,000 married couples suggests 83 percent of couples stop spending their anniversary together after three years of marriage, The Daily Mail reported Tuesday.

The company said 70 percent of men surveyed admitted to leaving dirty laundry around the house and 79 percent said they often leave the toilet seat up.

For their part, two thirds of female respondents said they never dress up or make a special effort to look nice for their partner and 54 percent said they no longer bother with makeup.

"We polled couples who have been married for more than 10 years to see how they view their current relationship," said John Sewell, spokesman for onepoll.com. "It would appear that many are stuck in a rut, and whilst they still love their other half they're a little too comfortable in each other's company."
