A Virginia woman whose wallet was stolen more than 20 years ago said it was recently found behind a wall at a church a few blocks away.
Vickey Rodgers of Norfolk said she was working at Rita Holland's dance studio in November 1989 when her wallet was stolen from her purse and she gave up on seeing it again until she received a phone call May 21, The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported Tuesday.
The caller, Aidee Alves, told Rodgers her husband found the wallet behind a bathroom wall that was knocked down as part of a construction project at the Oasis de Bendicion Iglesia Cristiana church.
Rodgers said $6 was missing from the wallet, but a $20 bill she hid behind a photo was still there. She said she was especially happy to find pictures she kept in the wallet.
"The only thing that bothered me for weeks was my pictures -- some of them I can't replace," she said.
