Star Magazine runs fake Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie cover shot
UPI News Service, 04/29/2005
The U.S. tabloid Star Magazine is making headlines of its own with faked cover photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie together on a beach.
After all, Us Weekly reportedly paid up to $1 million for exclusive U.S. rights for the actual paparazzi-taken photos of the so-called couple of the moment.
Star wasn't to be outdone in the romance rumor race. The magazine ran its own photos of the tandem lovingly gazing at each other. But the images, which grace the cover and appear on page 46, are actually cut-and-paste jobs from earlier, separate photos, E!Online said Friday.
Star admits the ruse on page 46.
The original snaps of the twosome appeared in London's Sun. Us acquired the U.S. rights, paying between $500,000 and $1 million, per reports. The pictures have also been widely circulated online.
Pitt and wife Jennifer Aniston broke up four months ago.
