When a newly re-branded network's first take at an original series of its own draws record ratings, you'd pretty much expect that the decision to bring it back for a second season would be an easy decision, but apparently that didn't stop Spike TV from waiting over three months to formally announce that it had ordered a second season of its The Joe Schmo Show series.

Having been "in talks" with Joe Schmo's Stone-Stanley production company regarding the possibility of a second season of show since October, Daily Variety reports that Spike TV has finally announced that it has greenlit the production of a second ten episode season of the series.

The first season of The Joe Schmo Show, a "reality show that's not real," was based around a Big Brother-like fake reality show named the Lap Of Luxury in which only one unsuspecting contestant, Matt Kennedy Gould, was real and the rest of the "contestants" were actually paid actors following a pre-determined script outline.

Unlike the first season of the show which parodied reality competition shows, Joe Schmo's second season will parody a different reality genre (reality dating shows perhaps?) "The show was a big success for us. So we've given Stone Stanley the greenlight to see if they could develop a way to pull it off again," a Spike spokesman told Variety.

For their part, during an interview last fall, the program's producers expressed confidence at being able to pull off another season despite the fact that their secret was now public. "We will find another Joe Schmo" producer Paul Wernick stated confidently. We'll soon see.
