Speeder admits to 160 mph chase

Police in Indiana said a motorist who fled an officer admitted to reaching 160 mph before crashing his 2002 Chevrolet Camaro.

Investigators said Joshua Curtis, 25, of Wheatfield was spotted traveling 53 mph in a 35 mph zone early Sunday and he sped up to above 100 mph when the officer gave chase, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday.

Police said the vehicle hit a jog in the road and crashed into a utility pole.

Curtis and his wife Mallory, 24, who was riding in the car, were not injured, police said.

Officers said Curtis admitted to reaching 160 mph while fleeing the officer.

Curtis was charged with resisting police, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He also received citations for speeding, driving with a suspended license and having false license plates.
