Sophie Monk and fiance Jimmy Esebag end their brief engagement

Sophie Monk says she and her fiance, French businessman Jimmy Esebag, have ended their brief engagement.

People.com said the Australian model, 31, confirmed while taping an episode of the talk show "Chelsea Lately" that she has broken up with Eseberg, 50.

Asked by host Chelsea Handler about the engagement she announced six weeks ago, Monk replied, "I'm newly single."

No other details regarding when or why the couple broke up were reported.
