Elton Hyder III said that he is not challenging his father's will, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. But he said that in the 10 years since his father died, he has been unable to get information on the estate.
Elton Hyder Jr. and his wife, Martha Rowan Hyder, who came from a prominent oil family, assembled a collection that included paintings, antiques, crowns worn by the last czar and czarina of Russia, and the death certificate of Mary Queen of Scots. There were also 4,000 items of legal memorabilia now at the University of Texas Law School.
Elton Hyder III is already embroiled legally with his family. His mother and siblings have demanded an accounting from him as an executor of his grandmother's estate.
Brent Hyder said that his brother is motivated by "pure greed."
"He'd like to get it out of her hands and steal what belongs to her," he said.
