So You Think You Can Dance's episode kicked off with Day 3 of The Academy round in which the contestants were required to learn and perform jazz choreography by Sonya Tayeh.

At this point in the competition, 30 dancers remained -- three dancers on each of the 10 All-Stars' teams -- and one hopeful needed to be ousted from each team before moving on to the next phase of cuts.

All-Star Robert Roldan, a contemporary dancer from Season 7 of So You Think You Can Dance, narrowed down his team to Jonathan Wade and Taylor Sieve.

All-Star Gaby Diaz, a tap dancer from Season 12, chose to keep Evan Debenedetto and Lex Ishimoto on her team.

All-Star Jasmine Harper, a contemporary dancer from Season 10, selected Howard Johnson and Robert Green as her Top 2 team members.

All-Star Marko Germar, a jazz dancer from Season 8, decided to go forward with Sofia Ghavami and Koine Iwasaki.

All-Star Comfort Fedoke, a hip-hop dancer from Season 4, narrowed down her team to Mark Villaver and Deja Williams.

All-Star Cyrus Spencer, an animation dancer from Season 9, chose to keep Havoc and Kaylee Millis on his team.

All-Star Jenna Johnson, a ballroom dancer from Season 10 and Dancing with the Stars pro, opted to have Kiki Nyemchek and Kevin "Konkrete" Davis on her team.

All-Star Fik-Shun Stegall, a hip-hop dancer from Season 10 and former contestant on Jennifer Lopez's new reality series World of Dance, advanced Dassy Lee and Kyle Bennett Jr.

All-Star Allison Holker, a contemporary dancer from Season 2 and Dancing with the Stars pro, narrowed down her team to Zachary Downer and Logan Hernandez.

Once the All-Stars cut down their teams to two people each, each All-Star taught his or her hopefuls choreography and the performed a duet with each contestant.

The routines allowed the All-Star, as well as the rest of the panel, to determine which single team member would be best to advance to the live shows. The panel of experts was looking for chemistry more than anything, and it was important for the contestants to pick up on the choreography quickly.
