A bid to build the world's largest ice pop turned into a PR disaster in New York when it melted into a slippery mess and sent one woman to the hospital.

The plan conceived by Deutsch Advertising was to build a 20-ton, 2.5-story ice pop made from Snapple's new kiwi-strawberry-flavored drink at Union Square.
The project began Monday to mark the first day of summer, whose 80-degree temperatures turned it into a public relations fiasco.
The massive blocks of frozen Snapple melted and ran through the streets, making them slippery. Three cyclists fell off their bikes, and one woman slipped and injured her ankle, requiring a hospital visit.
While Snapple issued an apology and offered to pay for clean-up costs, the New York Post said the Deutsch agency issued a news release Wednesday, saying the event was "a great time."
