Songstress Toni Braxton broke down during a recent New York telecast of "The View" as she revealed her 3-year-old son, Diezel, was diagnosed with autism.

The recording star appeared as a celebrity co-host on the ABC daytime talk show as it dedicated the entire episode to the topic, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said. Braxton has a residence Alpharetta, near Atlanta.

"I get so emotional about this," Braxton told regular co-hosts Rosie O'Donnell, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Braxton said she first suspected something was wrong with Diezel when she enrolled him in a school in Las Vegas, where she and her family are living while she performs at one of the hotels on the Strip.

"I could see little red flags," she said during the show that aired Monday. "He wasn't advancing at the same level as his brother (Denim)."

After having him tested for several conditions, Braxton said her son was diagnosed with autism in the fall.

Braxton said she agreed to appear on the show to promote autism awareness.
