The comedy "Sideways" led the field with six nominations as nominees were announced in Los Angeles Tuesday for the 20th Independent Spirit Awards.

The drug-smuggling drama "Maria Full of Grace" had five nominations, and four films -- including the biography of sex-researcher Alfred Kinsey -- had four nominations each.

The nominees for Best Feature are "Baadasssss!"; "Kinsey"; "Maria Full of Grace"; "Primer" and "Sideways."

The nominees for Best Female Lead are Kimberly Elise, "Woman Thou Art Loosed"; Vera Farmiga, "Down to the Bone"; Judy Marte, "On the Outs"; Catalina Sandino Moreno, "Maria Full of Grace," and Kyra Sedgwick, "Cavedweller."

The nominees for Best Male Lead are Kevin Bacon, "The Woodsman"; Jeff Bridges, "The Door in the Floor"; Jamie Foxx, "Redemption"; "Paul Giamatti, "Sideways," and Liam Neeson, "Kinsey."

The 20th IFP Independent Spirit Awards will be presented on Feb. 26 in ceremonies in Santa Monica, Calif., to be televised live on the Independent Film Channel.
