"I don't think I'll ever act again," the Scottish film icon told the Edinburgh Evening News.
"I have so many wonderful memories but these days are over. I'm swimming every day and I'm even trying to get the golf swing working again -- but that might take a little bit longer. During the summer I wasn't feeling great."
Connery is perhaps best known for playing secret agent James Bond in a string of 007 films in the 1960s, 70s and 80s.
His last major live-action movie role was in the Victorian-era action flick "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" in 2003.
