'Saturday Night Live' alum Tracy Morgan to star in NBC pilot

"Saturday Night Live" alumnus Tracy Morgan has agreed to star in an NBC pilot written by his old cast mate, Tina Fey.

Morgan will star in the show-within-a-show, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday -- an untitled comedy that takes place behind the scenes of an "SNL" type show.

The pilot has been on NBC's development roster for months, but Fey's busy schedule -- and the recent birth of her daughter -- had pushed back the start of the project.

Morgan was on "SNL" from 1996 to 2003.
