Prosecutors in Florida have dropped charges against a man accused of not doing enough to recapture a bull that ran away on the same day the man took ownership.

Wesley "Buck" Blanker, attorney for Sam Smith of Seminole County, said the State Attorney's office dropped the charges against his client on the condition the bull does not escape again, the Orlando Sentinel reported Wednesday.
The bull escaped from Smith's pasture, near Sanford, and authorities said it wandered too close to State Road 46 Nov. 21, the same day Smith acquired the animal.
Smith said he tried chasing the bull but eventually determined it needed to be left alone to calm down. Authorities said the bull was eventually shocked with a Taser and tied to a tree after a 12-hour search involving eight deputies and a helicopter.
Smith said prosecutors wanted him to pay a $750 fine for permitting livestock to run at large or astray, but he demanded the case go to trial and the State Attorney's office instead dropped the charges.
