A People magazine reporter was arrested while trying to crash the birthday party of Angelia Jolie's son at Brad Pitt's Santa Barbara, Calif., home.

Jeffery Neal Weiss, 23, was nabbed trying to sneak into Maddox's party by Pitt's security manager Richard Malchar, who made a citizen's arrest, World Entertainment News Network reported Thursday.

The New York Post said police found directions to Pitt's house in Weiss' car, which had allegedly been e-mailed to the reporter by People Los Angeles Bureau Chief Julie Jordan.

Weiss was charged with trespassing and it will now be up to Jolie and Pitt to decide whether to press through with criminal charges, WENN said.

"It's too bad that the media can't respect people's privacy," a Pitt representative said. "If the media continue to trespass on private property, they will be arrested. This is getting out of control."

A People editor said the incident was an accident and Weiss "regrets it."
