The wife of singer R. Kelly has reportedly hired a high-powered Chicago divorce lawyer.

Andrea Kelly received an emergency protective order from a Chicago judge earlier this month after she said he physically abused, harassed and stalked her, MTV News reported Monday.

She said in her petition that she wanted no contact with her husband and father of her three children, "by any means," but she let the order expire Friday and hired attorney Donald Schiller.

Schiller told MTV News Andrea Kelly has moved from the couple's home and considers herself separated from her husband.

Kelly, however, issued a statement Monday saying he and his wife are merely arguing and "are now in the process of working it out."

Kelly has been fighting child pornography charges in Cook County Criminal Court stemming from a videotape he allegedly made of himself having sex with an underage girl.
