The New York Daily News says Stefani and her rocker husband, Gavin Rossdale, are upset that MTV did not ask her to perform live during the Aug. 28 VMAs at the American Airlines Arena.
Among the performers announced so far by MTV are Green Day, Coldplay, the Killers, Shakira, Kanye West, Ludacris, Mariah Carey, 50 Cent and Kelly Clarkson.
"We love Gwen and we hope she will be able to join us, as we know her fans would love to see her on this big night, especially since she's heavily nominated," an MTV spokesman told the Daily News.
Reps for Stefani have not commented on the report.
