Actress Renee Zellweger and country music singer Kenny Chesney were newlyweds Tuesday after marrying on a beach in the Virgin Islands.

The pair first connected at the Jan. 15 "Concert of Hope" tsunami relief event, although their romance wasn't publicly known until April 29 when Zellweger came onstage and gave the country star a margarita and a kiss in Jacksonville, Fla., CNN reported Tuesday.

Zellweger, 36, wore a Caroline Herrerra dress for the 15-minute ceremony to Chesney, 37.

It was the first marriage for both, and the honeymoon is either going to be very short, or deferred, as Chesney's next concert is scheduled for Thursday in Little Rock, Ark., the report said.

Zellweger won the best supporting actress Oscar last year for "Cold Mountain," while Chesney was the 2004 Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year.
