Cross-dressing band the New York Dolls, led by original members David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain, hits the road later this month for an American tour.

Vocalist Johansen and guitarist Sylvain are the only two surviving members of the often vulgar band that formed during the 1970s and presaged the punk rock and glam-rock movements.
Their drug-fueled performances influenced a generation of musicians, Pollstar reported. However, death followed the band -- at times caused by drugs.
The current Dolls lineup includes guitarist Steve Conte, bassist Sami Yaffa and drummer Brian Delaney.
The group's tour kicks of April 28 in New York and moves to Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, Cleveland, Chicago and Detroit.
