An unexpected appearance by a rat surprised viewers of a live telecast outside the residence of the British prime minister.

The BBC said the rodent scurried over the doorstep of 10 Downing Street, the official residence of Prime Minister David Cameron, during a Sunday broadcast by political correspondent Gary O'Donoghue.
The rat's brush with political fame was captured on camera, the BBC said.
