The Jersey City Municipal Court trial was supposed to start Tuesday. Rasheeda Ellis claims she feared for her safety because what she called Brown's unrelenting abusive phone calls and e-mails, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.
A second complaint alleged Brown threatened Ellis with physical harm when she tried to collect a paycheck.
With media and court employees assembled, neither the plaintiff nor the defendant were anywhere to be found.
By the time Ellis made her way to the courtroom, the judge had declared her a no-show and dismissed the case. But the charges were reinstated after Ellis explained she had gone to the wrong courthouse, and the trial was rescheduled for Aug. 23.
It was unknown why Brown did not appear. She did not answer phone calls and her label, Def Jam, told the Post it had no comment.
