DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was three hours late for his Thursday sentencing hearing and the judge put him jail overnight and rescheduled his sentencing for Friday.
The rapper told the court he was late because of a stress-induced asthma attack. However, the judge did not buy the excuse and sentenced Simmons to 60 days for the parole violations and an extra 10 days for missing his hearing, NY1 TV reported.
Simmons was on probation after pleading guilty to reckless endangerment and driving under the influence for a June 2004 crash at Kennedy International Airport.
He violated his parole by getting a speeding ticket and being involved in a traffic accident, both while driving with a suspended license.
