Radio host Don Imus in hot water over Jewish remark

UPI News Service, 01/05/2005

Syndicated New York radio host Don Imus has refused to acknowledge a complaint from the Anti-Defamation League for a remark he made about Jews.

ADL chief Abraham Foxman told the New York Post he was "deeply troubled" when Imus referred to the publishers of the Mary and Carol Higgins Clark holiday film "The Christmas Thief" as "thieving Jews" and then reportedly went further, adding, "I apologize ... I realize that's redundant."

Tuesday on his WFAN show, which is also simulcast on cable's MSNBC, Imus complained to his listeners about the letter.

"Leave me alone, Jesus, God," Imus said. "Go after people who are actually doing something wrong."

Imus said he had written a two-word response across the face of the letter and sent it back, but didn't disclose the message.
