Queen Latifah has been named host of the People's Choice Awards show for the fifth consecutive year, producers said.

The event, in which fans honor their favorites in movies, music and television, is to be broadcast live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles Jan. 5 on CBS TV.

Fans are being invited to vote on which new categories should be added to the show. Possible categories include Favorite Horror Movie, Favorite TV Family and Favorite Music Performance.

"We are excited to empower the fans to help determine new categories for the 2011 show," Fred Nelson, president of People's Choice, said in a statement Monday. "After all, who's better qualified to identify the best pop culture trends and moments of the year than the fans themselves?"
