The principal of a Minnesota high school apologized for a prank at a pep assembly involving blindfolded students being kissed by their parents.

Principal John Wollersheim of Rosemount High School apologized after a 59-second clip of the assembly, which involved blindfolded sports team captains believing they were being kissed by fellow students but actually being kissed by their own parents, went viral on YouTube, KARE-TV, Minneapolis, reported Thursday.

"As principal I am responsible for everything that happens in the school so, ultimately, I am the person that needs to answer for this," Wollersheim said.

"I know there are people who are upset about what they have seen and as principal I am responsible for what happens here. For all the people who are offended, they are genuinely offended, and I owe them an apology," he said.

Wollersheim said the short clip was not an accurate representation of the hourlong event.

"A lesson to be learned is that what you see on the Internet, sometimes you just see portions of what really happened and it can lead you to think a certain way," he said.
