President Obama will be taking on the Alaskan wilderness with survival expert Bear Grylls on a special episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls that will air later this year on NBC.

President Obama will become the first U.S. president to receive a crash course in survival techniques when he travels to Alaska with Grylls to observe the effects of climate change on Season 2 of the reality series.

On the first season of Running Wild with Bear Grylls, celebrities were challenged via one-on-one adventures with Grylls that lasted up to 48 hours during which their survival skills were tested and they were pushed beyond their mental and physical limits. The participants included A-Listers Zac Efron, Channing Tatum, Kate Winslet and Kate Hudson.

Running Wild with Bear Grylls is produced by Bear Grylls Ventures and Electus with Delbert Shoopman, Dave Pearce, Chris Grant, Viki Cacciatore and Liz Schulze serving as executive producers.

Grylls has starred on seven seasons of Man vs. Wild on the Discovery Channel. In addition to Running Wild, he also hosts The Island on NBC.
